Djabe & Steve Hackett's latest album, "Freya Arctic Jam," was released on March 7, 2025.

This collaboration between renowned progressive rock genius Steve Hackett and Hungarian jazz and world music band DJABE was recorded after their participation in the 2024 BodØ Jazz Open in Norway, in the Arctic Circle. The recording took place during their stay in the Arctic.

These are jam sessions recorded during their concerts, and as with previous works from this collaboration, the songs are inspired by the environment in which they were recorded.

The fusion of Djabe's modern jazz flair and Hackett's extraordinary guitar work creates a unique blend: fresh, intense, complex, and generous with new ideas.

An extraordinary jazz fusion album, comparable to the work of Pat Metheny but with a European flavor. It's a work of great beauty, although some critics find it less "progressive" than usual and Hackett is less evident, taking on more of a role as a jazz fusion guitarist.

It's a musical odyssey through landscapes and moments that slowly reveal themselves, sometimes losing momentum but then regaining it. This work is not a masterpiece, but it's an excellent choice for lovers of good music, quality music, especially jazz fusion, and for those who appreciate a more varied and less strictly progressive sound.

An album of great beauty.
