A Masterpiece of Italian Progressive Rock, Il Volo debut album by the band Il Volo, released in 1974 here in a beautiful limited edition numbered remastered version.

Il Volo was an Italian progressive rock supergroup formed in 1974, consisting of musicians from other bands. The band included Alberto Radius and Mario Lavezzi on guitars, Vince Tempera and Gabriele Lorenzi on keyboards, Bob Callero on bass, and Gianni Dall'Aglio on drums, and released two albums before breaking up, the self-titled Il Volo (1974) and To Be or Not to Be? To Be! To Be! To Be! (1975). Their sound was beautiful symphonic rock, with a style characterized by rock instrumentation with classical influences, and their albums are a must-have for lovers of Italian progressive rock. Il Volo broke up because their second instrumental album was not commercially successful, and the group's bassist, Antonio Callero, was replaced before the band finally broke up. After the breakup, the members pursued solo careers or became successful session musicians.

A beautiful album both from a compositional point of view, in terms of performance and lyrics, composed and played by exceptional musicians, top-level in the Italian and world music scene of that time.

32 minutes for 8 tracks, each more beautiful than the last, intense, deep and full of melancholy and sensitivity. The beauty of the melodies and the engaging and captivating character are surprising, the pauses between moments that evoke different emotions, arrangements of unique sophistication.

An album unfortunately underrated, but which helps to make this the most beautiful period of Italian progressive. A sound that is still current after more than 50 years, a monument played with two guitars and two keyboards, electric piano, strings, fantastic synths, between acoustic and electronic music with one of the strengths being the voice, splendid, engaging, emotional.

All lyrics are by Mogol, Music composed by Mario Lavezzi (1, 4, 8), Alberto Radius (2, 3, 6), Gabriele Lorenzi (5, 8), Gianni Dall'Aglio (7)

Fantastic "Il Calore Umano" and "Il Canto della Preistoria", monuments of Italian prog but also "Come una zanzara" with its electric pianos, exceptional bass, splendid drums, great guitar and the refinement of the voice.

A gigantic album and among the most beautiful of Italian Progressive Rock, which I can only recommend to all of you.

This album is a true Progressive Rock METEOR. Visit the PROG METEOR section for more information.
