Dies Irae, Formula 3's first album, released in 1970
Italian progressive rock, produced by Lucio Battisti, with lyrics and music by Battisti himself, Mogol, Eugenio and Edoardo Bennato, and Elio Isola, among others.
The title "Dies Irae" is a medieval poetic sequence, meaning "day of divine wrath," which has inspired many musical works.
The melodies have a Mediterranean sound tinged with psychedelic progressive rock, played by a trio composed of great musicians: Alberto Radius (guitar, vocals, and bass), Gabriele Lorenzi (keyboards and bass), and Toni Cicco (drums and vocals).
The title track and "Sole giallo, sole nero" are beautiful, in my opinion, stand out, as is "Walk Away Renee."
Not a masterpiece like La Grande Casa, but definitely worth a listen as a starting point for their discography and for the quality of their performance.
