Until All The Ghosts Are Gone by Anekdoten, an album released in 2015, eight years after their previous album, A Time of Day.
A true band that plays prog that maintains its high level over time, a reaffirmation, therefore, that evokes the sacred monsters of '70s prog and does so excellently.
46 minutes for six tracks.
To summarize: a great album, starting with the beautiful opener "Shooting Star," with excellent interplay between guitar, vocals, and organ (by former Opeth member Per Wiberg) that at times spills into hard rock.
Get Out Alive, with very intense atmospheres.
If It Comes Down To You, a ballad somewhere between progressive and psychedelia with dreamy atmospheres and a great flute by Theo Travis (King Crimson, Steven Wilson), who takes on two solos, the second one magnificent, which leads to a guitar solo that closes the song in style.
"Writing On The Wall" is the rockiest piece, featuring vocals by Jan Erik Liljeström and a great harmony between the instrumentalists, Anna Sofi Dahlberg on keyboards and Peter Nordins's extremely precise guitars and drums.
The title track is a synthesis of all this, with soft moments and very energetic instrumental parts, with a beautiful chorus that concludes with the opening of "Our Days Are Numbered," a pure and hard progressive sound, featuring excellent sax from Gustav Nygren, for a thrilling album close.
An album worth listening to carefully, with its sound lacking great virtuosity but featuring excellent compositions and meticulous execution.
A band that takes its time releasing new albums and lets the great work behind them shine through, not looking at sales but rather at the consistency of the journey. And in my opinion, this is a great milestone in Anekdoten's journey.
Highly recommended album.
