A masterpiece straight from Germany in 1972, Neu!, the first album by the eponymous duo Kosmische Musik (Krautrock), a band founded in 1971 by Michael Rother and Klaus Dinger, formed as a split from the very early Kraftwerk, which was now moving toward a fully technological dimension.

An album that began a journey that would be followed over the years by bands such as Joy Division and Stereolab.

The band is composed of two outstanding musicians who also worked with other top-level bands:

Michael Rother - guitar, keyboards, vocals (Bands:  KraftwerkNeu!ClusterHarmonia)

Klaus Dinger - guitar, keyboards, percussion, vocals (Bands:  KraftwerkNeu!La Düsseldorf, La! Neu?)

They created a spare, essential sound based on the rhythmic groove of the drums and cyclical melodies.

Klaus Dinger, along with Jaki Liebezeit of Can, was the creator of "motorik," a rhythmic pattern that would later be adopted in new wave, synth-pop, and '90s music.

Neu!'s music, after more than twenty years of delay, would find fame in Europe and a deserved reappraisal thanks to the new trends of new wave, alternative rock, and electronic music, which would re-evaluate its visionary nature.

A great, seminal album.
