A Flare On The Lens by Big Big Train, from 2024.

This live album features songs recorded in 2023, during the second of two performances at London's Cadogan Hall, as well as seven songs that were only performed on the first night.

The sound is immersive, and singer Alberto Bravin's performance is impressive, along with the contributions of violinist Clare Lindley and guest guitarist Maria Barbarelia.

This album highlights the band's evolving sound and continued success following the passing of former singer David Longdon.

The audio quality is exceptional, mixed by Rob Aubrey, Nick D'Virgilio delivers a virtuoso and powerful performance, and the setlist spans the band's history, including fan favorites like "East Coast Racer," "Victorian Brickwork," and "Judas Unrepentant," along with more recent tracks like "Oblivion" and "Love Is the Light." The inclusion of a brass ensemble enriches the sound.

This is a band that should fill stadiums; they play complex and majestic progressive rock with excellent arrangements and superb technique, a balance between the members, and virtuosity that is never intrusive.

BBT are, in my opinion, one of the best progressive bands around, and this album only confirms that.

A beautiful album and a beautiful concert, certainly for those who, unlike me, were lucky enough to attend.
