Flying Teapot, Radio Gnome Invisible Part 1, Gong's third album, from 1973, is the first installment in the Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy (followed by the masterpieces Angel's Egg and You), which explores the Gong mythology with a succession of musical inventions that have made Gong a cult band for lovers of psychedelia and progressive rock.
This is the Trilogy
- Flying Teapot (Radio Gnome Invisible Part 1)
- Angel's Egg (Radio Gnome Invisible Part 2)
For those who want to know more, the Radio Gnome Invisible Trilogy begins with this first chapter, Flying Teapot, and tells of surreal characters: an Egyptologist, a traveling salesman of antique teapots, and a collector of tea labels who are seduced by the sale of an earring. He is able to receive messages from the planet Gong thanks to the radio station Radio Gnome Invisible. The narrative includes a trip to Tibet, in the Himalayas, where they meet the great beer yogi who sings Banana Nirvana Mañana and gets drunk, which actually reflects real events when Daevid Allen and Gilli Smyth met Didier Malherbe in a cave in Mallorca.
This is the album of their consecration.
A fantastic band that not only has the undisputed ability to play incredibly well and entertain, but also gives the distinct impression of literally having fun playing.
