Jord Sessions by Jordsjo, 2022 album
A superb symphonic rock album, a remix of their debut album, enhanced with new organ and percussion, and featuring fantastic bonus track on CD. The album blends symphonic progressive rock with folk, featuring light and dreamy Norwegian vocals, beautiful melodies, tempo changes, superb compositions, and excellent Mellotron and Hammond organ, as well as flute and great guitar riffs.
An enveloping and intense sound, with symphonic and pastoral atmospheres, exploring themes of alienation, perfectly reflects the moods of the atmospheres, creating a deep and rich, often melancholic sound.
The songs I enjoyed most were "Abstraksjoner Fra Et Dunkelt Kammer" and the title track, divided into two parts, "Jord I" and "Jord II." These are superb compositions.
The CD version includes a bonus track, the magnificent Nattfiolen Suite a track we've discussed in dedicated posts and which is one of their masterpieces.
A work that showcases Jordsjø's remarkable songwriting skills from their earliest days, and this remix enhances the band's original sound. Great atmospheres and superb playing.
A highly recommended album.
