Acqua Fragile by Acqua Fragile, from 1973.
This Italian band formed in 1971 and disbanded in 1975, reforming in the early 2000s. It featured Bernado Lanzetti, who later debuted with PFM on Chocolate Kings in 1975.
A high-quality progressive rock opus with meticulous production and complex arrangements that blend Mediterranean, pop, and rock influences.
The compositions are sophisticated, and the instruments, vocals, and vocal arrangements are excellent, with a constant interplay of breaks, choruses, acoustic and electric elements that create diverse atmospheres.
The lyrics and vocals are in English, and the sound was decidedly inspired by British progressive rock. A beautiful album with great performances, but the English vocals were not well received in Italy, and the album was never even released abroad.
It's impossible not to notice the similarities in both sound and vocals with Genesis's Gabriel and Gentle Giant era, and I found some King Crimson and Yes in them. But I have to say these are top-notch performances, with Bernardo Lanzetti, both composer and singer, providing the greatest contribution.
They later released their second album, Mass Media Stars, in 1974, which was also released in the United States.
Aside from these considerations, this album is a beautiful one, so I recommend you listen to it!
