Between Flesh and Divine, the second album by Asia Minor, Symphonic Rock masterpiece from 1980 but it could easily be ten years younger, one of the best albums of that decade.
Musicians from Turkey and France for a style with intimate, deep, and dark atmospheres, with a subtle psychedelic rain in the background. Wonderful compositions and excellent instrumental parts, a young and deep but also clear and enveloping voice, the singing is in excellent English.
Flute and guitar are the foundation of the band's sound, supported by very powerful bass and drums, Setrak Bakirel's voice is deep and when needed delicate and serene. The compositions underlying the tracks are excellent, characterized by instrumental or vocal progressions alternating more delicate passages with powerful instrumental sections.
All the tracks are important, it has no weak points.
I mention the short Boundless which in just over 3 minutes gets into your head and never leaves, but also Dedicace which, with its 6 minutes or so, starts clinging to the flute and then becomes a prog ride with its tempo changes and excellent drums with its raw sounds and cymbals where you can hear the vibrations of the metal fibers, hold-style keyboards and a not too distorted guitar that has learned sustain from Hackett and Gilmour but uses it with discretion and humility.
An album to listen to from start to finish, truly beautiful, a must-listen for lovers of Symphonic Rock.
